4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

A1 - Lecture classes in large group is the methodology to be followed in the exhibition classes in large group. They will be a mix of introductory activities, masterclasses and exposition of theory and general examples in the classroom designated by the Centre for the subject. 

The student must follow the lectures with the material delivered for that purpose, either notes or slide show, and they must be completed with their own notes and the subsequent revision of basic and/or recommended bibliography.  Active, respectful and responsible, either to ask questions or to respond to questions formulated by the teacher, or other requirements will be evaluated positively by the corresponding factor.

The autonomous student work, should focus on the revision of the concepts and theoretical aspects seen in the class, exercises, as well as the study with the material provided by the teacher, the student and bibliography notes.  In addition, sessions of lecture classes controls will be carried out to monitor the progression and assimilation of concepts from the learner.

 

A2 - Small group classes work in small group classes will be based firstly on practical activities in the laboratory. The work of the student will focus on the development of applications, or learning tasks designated by the teacher, which will culminate in the achievement of the objectives set for the practice. Secondly, small group classes consist of solving exercises and practical issues of the subject. Finally, also seminars will be held to deepen aspects relevant and complementary to the matter.  Assistance, as well as active participation, respectful and responsible, either to raise questions or to respond to questions from the Professor, or the requirements will be evaluated positively in its corresponding factor. With respect to personal work, this will focus on completing the work started in the laboratory and the resolution of problems that could not be completed in the corresponding session.  In addition, the kinds of small group sessions controls will be carried out to monitor progression and assimilation of concepts from the learner.

 

A3 - Group tutoring group will be used for the resolution of questions of both practical concepts like theoreticians of the students.  Assistance, as well as active participation, respectful and responsible, either to raise questions or to respond to questions from the Professor, or the requirements will be evaluated positively in its corresponding factor.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

At the end of the semester, the student has to choose between two methods of evaluation: CONTINUOUS EVALUATION or FINAL EXAM.

CONTINUOUS EVALUATION

This assessment method is organised according to the activities described in the previous table.

To pass the subject, the student has to get a mark higher or equal than 5.0 out of 10 in the overall result of the evaluated aspects, as long as he or she has obtained a mark higher or equal than 4.0 in each one of those assessed aspects.

FINAL EXAM EVALUATION

This kind of evaluation is based in only one written exam that evaluates all the aspects of the subject, by assessing the students in the acquisition of all the competences and learning outcomes established in the subject. This exam will take place during the Examination period on a date established by the centre. The final exam is weighted in the following way:

- Attendance and participation (S1), Theoretical concepts (S2) and Exercises, problems and study cases (S3): 70%.

- Laboratory and computer practical work (S4): 30%.

 

In order to pass the subject, the student must have marks higher or equal to 5.0 out of 10 at each part of the final exam.

The students who have already fulfil the requirements of aspect S4 (Laboratory or computer practical work) through the CONTINUOUS EVALUATION, by obtaining a mark higher or equal to 5.0 out of 10 do not have to make this part in the FINAL EXAM evaluation.

Those aspects successfully completed with a mark higher or equal to 5.0 will be considered passed during that academic year.

With this system will be evaluated the following learning skills:

C8, CBB4, CG.3, CG.4, CG.9
