3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Evolution of the economy and finances with special reference to the modern and contemporary eras.

Analysis of the historical evolution of the factors of backwardness and development of the economy. Institutional factors. Recovery factors.

Markets, financial systems, companies and role of the State in the course of history.

  • Unit 1. The origin of modern growth initiated in England
  • Unit 2. The diffusion of the Industrial Revolution and the integration of the international economy (1830-1914)
  • Unit 3. Economic disintegration and financial crisis (1918-1939)
  • Unit 4. The Western economy after the Second World War (1945-1973)
  • Unit 5. The period of economic growth and recessions of the last quarter of the 20th century to the present
  • Unit 6. Economic behavior of emerging countries, ex-communist and underdeveloped countries at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century
  • Unit 7. Economic growth in Latin America (1900-2015)
  • Unit 8. The Spanish economy from the late nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The final grade of the student will be the result of the addition of the grades obtained in a final test on theoretical and operational content of the subject and different activities scheduled during the course.

The final test will consist of 40 questions. The correct answers add up to 0.2 points, the incorrect answers subtract 0.2 points and the questions not answered neither add nor subtract. This final test will represent 80 percent of the final grade.

In addition, students must complete scheduled activities during the school year such as: practical tests, presentation of individual/group work, self-assessment tests and / or class participation.
These activities will have a maximum rating of 20 percent of the final grade. Competences that will be valued: E7 Know and apply basic concepts of Economic History and G3 Have the ability to analyze and synthesize.

The student who does not take the exam despite having carried out the practical activities will be considered as not submitted in the corresponding call, keeping the qualification of the same for the following calls of the present academic year.
