3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

1. High Resolution Remote Sensing. Sensors, Data treatment. Applications.
2. Oblique Photogrammetry. Urban Modelling applications. 3D City Models.
3. Close-range systems. Data capture and treatment.
4. Aerial Laser Systems (ALS) and Terrestrial Laser Systems (TLS). Mobile Mapping Systems (MMS).
5. Data orientation (SfM). Products.
6. Data merging. Quality control procedures.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures will involve:

  • Theoretical lessons by means of master classes with student participation.
  • Practice lessons based on actual projects and data as well as the use of instruments and software about: high resolution satellite sensors and images, oblique aerial images in urban areas, terrestrial images, laser scanners (aerial and terrestrial, both static‚ -terrestrial laser scanner or TLS- and -mobile mapping systems or MMS-), computer vision algorithms (Structure from Motion or SfM), data fusion  and practice exercises.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The assessment has three parts: attendance + participation, theory+exercises and practice.

Attendance Participation: attendance will be controlled both at theory and practice lessons and it is required 75% of attendance and an active participation on the Web-Learning System (ILIAS).

Theory+exercises: written exam which includes the theoretical and practice contents of the subject and some exercises or problems.

Practice: the assessment is based on the submission of the projects and exercises made during the practice lessons and the actual own-developed project.

The final mark will be the weighted average of the three parts (attendance + participation, exam and practice), being the weights 0.1, 0.5 and 0.4, respectively. In order to pass the subject, it is necessary to get at least a mark of 5.0 but in order to compute the mark is mandatory to get at least 4.0 (4.0 out of 10) in all three parts.
