- INTRODUCTION. Environmental Geology: Geologic resources and geologic hazards. Geodiversity and geological heritage: concepts.
- GEOLOGIC RESOURCES. Mineral resources: metallic and non metallic. Present and future of geologic resources. Energy resources: renewable and non renewable. Present and future of energy resources. Management and planning of geologic resources.
- GEOLOGIC HAZARDS. Volcanism, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, erosion, mass movements, coastal. Other hazards: anthropic, global change, cosmic hazards.
- GEODIVESITY AND GEOCONSERVATION. Geodiversity and geological heritage. Geoconservation: geo-proxies. Measurement and assessment of geodiversity. Management of the geological heritage and geodiversity. Natural protected areas: regulation.
LABORATORY ACTIVITIES (A)
A1 (4/10/2018): Examination of the minerals and rocks of economic interest.
A2 (11/10/2018): Analysis of examples of the geological hazard related with external geodynamic.
A3 (25/10/2018): Analysis of examples of the geological hazard related with internal geodynamic.
A4 (22/11/2018): Valuing the geodiversity and the geological heritage.
FIELD TRIP (FT)
FT1 (19/10/2018): Field trip to a region with resources and hazards related with different kinds of mining.
FT2 (8/11/2018): Field trip to a region with resources and hazards related with an open cast mining. Proposal and valuing of geosites.
FT3 (9/11/2018): Field trip to a region with resources and hazards in coastal zone. Proposal and valuing of geosites.
Theory: the professor will present main concepts, and there will be discussions and presentations related to the student's assingments.
Practice: exercises and problems under the supervision of the professor. In the field, real cases will be showed and discussed, and the students will present a report.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
Theory: Written exam with questions and graphics to be discussed. Course activities will also included in the evaluation. (Competences: CB3, CB4, CB5, CT4, CT-23 CT-24 and CE7)
