Course content :

The concept of ephemeral art

Evolution, artists, patrons and sponsors

The forms of ephemeral art

Celebration and disguise: the mechanisms of ephemeral art

At the Service of the Catholic Church : liturgical celebrations and extraordinary manifestations

At the Service of the Spanish Monarchy: the life of the Royal Family

A theatrical death: catafalques and the Office of the Dead

The force of tradition: contemporary ephemeral art

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Methodology and activities :

Theoretical and practical lectures. Field work. Student’s autonomous workload.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The qualification system will be governed by the provisions of Royal Decree 1125/2003 of September 5, wich establishes the European credit system and the qualification system for university degrees of an official nature. It will be necessary to pass the theoretical exam and have correctly completed, at least, half of the activities indicated in the sections "Active participation in class and in the groups of practices" and "Delivery ot the works", to proceed to the sum of the differents percentages of evaluation of the subject. 

 

Assessment methodology :

The grading system will be in accordance to that established in RD 1125/2003 of September 5 th and the ECTS, European Credit Transfer System.

- 60 % final theory exam (a minimum of 5out of 10 is required to pass) 


- 25 % individual research paper / home assignments


- 15% attendance and active participation in classes
