Unit 1. General presentation. The situation. The position and configuration. The Iberian Peninsula as a crossroads. The peninsular territory and the political division. Unit 2. The relief. The formation of the relief. The Meseta and the interior and surrounding mountain ranges. The outer relief units. UNIT 3. Climate, hydrology and biogeography. The general characteristics of the climate. The climatic domains. Climate synthesis and exceptional sectors. The water circulation. The marine waters. Soils and vegetation. Conclusion: natural unit and variety of the Iberian Peninsula. UNIT 4. Natural risks and protection of the environment. The effects of natural risks. Risks with geological origin. Climatic risks. The induced risks. Floods and droughts. The conservationist ideas. Protected areas. UNIT 5. Population and settlement. Historical evolution of the population. Birth, fertility and nuptiality. 5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Based on the observation of the teacher in class and field practices, as well as through the examination of theory and practices will be evaluated the acquisition of learning outcomes related to the ability to perform analysis and synthesis, the development of critical thinking , the recognition of diversity, the techniques of field work, the relations of Spain in the international framework and the fundamental geographical characteristics of Spain.
