3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

1. One-dimensional descriptive Statistics

Types of statistical variables. Tables of frequencies. Graphical methods for data analysis. Descriptive measures for data analysis.

2. Two-dimensional descriptive Statistics

Joint frequency distribution: double entry tables. Marginal and conditioned distributions. Analysis of the association.

3. Calculation of probabilities

Definition and interpretation of probability. Concepts and basic results. Random variables. Characteristics. Theoretical models of probability.

4. Statistical Inference

Statisticians and parameters. Punctual estimation and confidence intervals. Hypothesis tests associated with double-entry tables.

5. Public Statistics: social indicators

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The teaching methodology aims to achieve the competences of this subject in its theoretical and practical part (G2, G3 and G5).

The use of appropriate software to perform the basic functions of Statistics is explained in the computer room.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The theoretical-practical concepts of the subject evaluated through a written exam, which represents 60% of the final grade, aims to evaluate the achievement of learning outcomes R1, R2, R7 and R8, and competencies G2 and G5.

The proposed work, which represents 30% of the final grade, aims to evaluate the achievement of G3 competence and learning outcomes R3, R4, R5, R6, R9 and R10.

A ttendance and active participation in the class of students, which represents 10% of the final grade, can be evaluated by means of delivering one or several activities or exercises, which are indicated throughout the term by the teachers involved in the course.
