3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Transportation and deposition of sediments. Sedimentary rocks:textures. Types of sedimentary rocks: terrigenous sedimentaryrocks, chemical/biochemical, organic sedimentary rocks, others.Sedimentary depositional structures. Sedimentary facies.Environmental analysis: terrestrial environments, marineenvironments, transitional environment. Stratigraphic units.Unconformities. Basin analysis

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures (theory): 2 hours per week

Laboratory and practical problems: 2 hours per week

Stratigraphic and sedimentological field trip: 1 day

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Exam paper (60% of the total score: 30% theory and 30% practice)combined with evaluation of the seminars-presentations  and written report of field activities (30 %). Assistance and active participation (10%)
