Chapter 2. Mechatronic perception systems

  1. Distance and position sensors.
  2. Force and inertial sensors.
  3. Olfactory Sensors.
  4. Vision sensors
  5. Other Sensors.

 

Chapter 3. Introduction to computer vision

  1. Definition and fundamental concepts.
  2. Elements of a computer vision system.
  3. Image acquisition.

 

Chapter 4. Image Processing 2D

  1. Preprocessing.
  2. Edge detection.
  3. Segmentation.
  4. Extraction of characteristics.
  5. Object Recognition.

 

Chapter 5. Image Processing 3D

  1. Geometrical image formation
  2. Camera calibration
  3. Techniques for extracting 3D information. Stereo vision, triangulation and time-of-flight sensors.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lecture and 4 programming practices are part of the activities included in the course. 

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

In order to pass the course the following issues have to be fulfilled:

  1. Work lab attendant is mandatory (only one session could be made up for at the end of the course)
  2. Pass the  final written exam (theory and problems).
  3. Pass the programming work.
