3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

The following concepts will be covered:

  • Industrial systems automation (industrial communications, man-machine interfaces, SCADA systems)
  • Computer vision for industrial applications (quality control, robot guidance, etc.)
  • Industrial manipulator robotics

The course is composed of the following blocks:

BLOCK I: Manufacturing systems control

  • Lesson 1. Preliminary concepts
  • Lesson 2. Programmed automatism.
  • Lesson 3. Industrial communication networks.
  • Lesson 4. SCADA systems.

BLOCK II. Computer vision applied in industrial environments.

  • Lesson 5. Preliminar concepts
  • Lesson 6. Implementation of solutions

BLOCK III. Industrial Robotics

  • Lesson 7. Preliminar concepts.
  • Lesson 8. Industrial robot programming.

LAB SESSIONS

  • Lab 1. Cell FMS-200.
  • Lab  2. Palletizing system.
  • Lab  3. Bottling system.
  • Lab  4. Image preprocessing.
  • Lab  5. Edge detection and segmentation.
  • Lab  6. Feature extraction and pattern recognition.
  • Lab  7. Industrial robots programming.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Expositive lectures in big group and lab sessions during the semester, where the theoretical concepts presented will be applied.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Theory and practical questions test (75% of the final mark). To pass the course it is compulsory to pass this test.

The final mark can be increased by the work in the lab sessions and a programming assignment.

    • Learning results: 8.1, 8.2.
  • Programming work:
    • Evaluated competences: CG11, CE08 .
    • Learning results:  8.2.
