3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

  1. Gender and Feminist perspective research. Starting approach and basic concepts. Theoretical and epistemological contributions to the scientific sphere.
  2. Qualitative methodology review from a gender perspective. About how to study on gender and how to elaborate qualitative data. The inclusion of/about women discourses.
  3. Quantitative methodology review from a gender perspective. About how "numbers" are a matter of gender. Linking figures and discourses.
  4. Gender research to social intervention. Drawing up researchers to be transfer to the professional sphere.
  5. Gender bias. Keys to understanding.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

- Expositive classes in large group. Lecture sessions about theory and practical examples.

- Expositive classes about practical contents.

- Oral presentation in common of the contents.

- Performance and participation in big group of theoretical and practical contents of the subject.

- Practical sessions, debates and oral presentations of the work about the topic of the subject.

 

The basic texts for reading will be up loaded to virtual teaching. The students will have to read them to be discussed in classes.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Attendance and active participation in class 10%

The attendance to the sessions is obligatory. Those students who will not attendance will have to inform to the teachers at the beginning of the course. Only in exceptional occasion, appropriately justified, the teacher will consider to do an additional work. The reading of basic text is obligatory, as well as the active participation in the debates. The evaluation is a continuum process.

 

Theoretical concepts 60%

The students will have to be competent in theoretical and practical knowledge of the signature. The basic theoretical concept will have to be developed in a practical work about the feminist research methodology. In this work, the students will have to show the acquire and the implementation of theoretical knowledges in an appropriated way, related to the basic concepts of the subject.

 

Practices 30%

The students will have to do a practical work, necessary to pass the signature. It could be an individual or group work, supervised by the teachers in class (and tutorial) about how to include a feminist methodology in a specific intervention project.
