3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

1. Introduction. Biology of cells in culture. Minimum equipment and practical considerations. The cell culture as an alternative to animal testing. 2. Types of cultures. Culture media. Substrates: role of the extracellular matrix. The role of serum in cell culture.
3. Cell lines. Growth and maintenance of cells in culture. Subculture cell lines. Freezing and thawing.
4. Cell synchronization. Stimulation by growth factors quiescence step -proliferation. Study of cell cycle.
5. Cell differentiation
6. Cell transfection.
7. Using fluorescence microscopy and confocal microscopy in relation to cell culture.
8. Mesenchymal cells cultures
