3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

1. Cognitive styles of students.

2. Communicative approach: criteria for selecting activities

3. Classroom dynamics. Groupings. Discipline problems and solutions. Classrooms with different levels.

4. Textbook analysis

5. Teaching techniques: story-telling, learner-based teaching, dictation, songs role-plays, debates and discussions, drama and humanistic activities.

6. Teaching materials: DVD, computer and Web-based materials, graded readers, audiovisual materials.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Several tasks will be carried out. First, prospective teachers will act out as learners, experimenting the different activities, techniques, materials and classroom dynamics that can be done in the classroom. Secondly, several textbook analyses will be done, to find out if they follow official regulations established in the Common European Framework for Languages.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Three tools will be taken into consideration:

1. Individual textbook analysis through an individual written work

2. Oral presentation in which some technique or material will be developed both theoretically and in practice. This will be a group presentation.

3. Attendance and participation in activities and debates, both initiated by the teacher and also by the other students.
