1.- General considerations about children's and young adultsââ¬â¢ literature.
1.1 Initial definitions. The main characteristics of childrenââ¬â¢s and young adultââ¬â¢s literature.
2.- Genres of childrenââ¬â¢s and young adultsââ¬â¢ literature.
2.1 Prose fiction. Authors.
2.2 Poetry and songs. Authors.
2.3 Drama. Authors
2.5 Others: tongue-twisters, riddles.
3.- Exploring the vocabulary and semantic aspects of childrenââ¬â¢s and young adultsââ¬â¢ literature in the foreign language.
4.- Basic use of the four skills in the foreign language.
4.1 Oral and written comprehension.
4.2 Oral and written expression.
5.-Literature in foreign language teaching.
5.1 Advantages of using literature in the foreign language classroom.
5.2 How to develop creativity and imagination, adapt texts and elaborate class material and resources. Encouraging to read.
The methodology used will endeavour to involve the student in the teaching and learning process of the foreign language and of childrenââ¬â¢s literature. The student should use reflection, critical and analytical forms of thinking to deduce meaning and to assimilate new knowledge based on previous knowledge. Activities which put into practice knowledge and contents which should develop both oral and written skills in the foreign language are programmed. Idea sharing activities, debates, presentation of projects and other material related to the subject will be included.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
- There will be an accumulative final exam which will correspond to 50% of the student's mark and it will consist of the following parts:
- a) Short questions about the theory studied during the subject. b) The identification of a text and how it could be exploited in the classroom. Skills and learning results: CFDD 21, 22, 27, 28// R60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67.
- An individual research project will form 30% of the student's final mark. This will entail a project which will be chosen from a list of titles given by the lecturer. The student should hand in a previous brief outline of the project which should be approved by the lecturer. An oral summary of this project, lasting approximately 10 minutes should be presented in class. Slkills and learning results: CFDD 21, 22, 27, 28// R60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67.
- Continuous evaluation: attendance, participation and implication in the following of the classes, as well as the class presentations will make up 20% of the student's final mark. This mark will only be awarded if the student has participated actively in 70% or more of the sessions. Skills and learning results: CFDD 21, 22, 27, 28// R60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67.
