CHAPTER 2: Economics of electricity generation
CHAPTER 3: Economic dispatch
CHAPTER 4: Unit commitment and hydrothermal coordination
CHAPTER 5: Optimal and secure operation of transmission systems
CHAPTER 6: Electricity market operations

LABORATORY CLASSES
Session one: Resolution of economic dispatch problems using analytical methods
Session two: Resolution of economic dispatch problems using software of electric power systems
Session three: Resolution of unit commitment problems using GAMS/EXCEL
Session four: Resolution of optimal power flow problems using software of electric power systems
Session five: Resolution of auction algoritms based in electricity market using GAMS/EXCEL

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The main support resource will be the use of the virtual platform named as ILIAS. The student will find all the necessary information to overcome successfully the course, recommended readings, problems and another material of interest. In the virtual course, different forums will be created in order to clarify different doubts on the subject.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

For the assessment of the theoretical knowledge of the subject a theoretical written examination in the official call will be made. The mark for the theoretical part will involve 45% of the final grade. Through a written exam the CC4 competency will be evaluated. Passing this theoretical part will prove 41,42 44 and 46 outcomes have been reached.

The realization of individual work (academically supervised activities) and the completion of group work will be evaluated by the teacher and will account for 40% of the final grade. The realization of activities will account for 15% while the completion of a group work will account for 25% of the final grade. With the completion of the activities and the work  CEL4, CT2 and CT4 competencies will be evaluated. Passing this works will prove 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46 outcomes have been reached.

Attendance and active participation in class will be evaluated by the teacher and will account for 15% of the final grade. Attendance has a weight of 10% while active participation in class has a weight of 5%.
