3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Topic 1. Introduction to functions of several variables

Topology of the Euclidean space. Limits for multivariate functions. Multivariate differentiation. Chain rule. Implicit function theorem

Topic 2. Differential geometry.

Parametrized curves. Frenet formula. Parametrized surfaces.

Topic 3. Integration of multivariable functions.

Two and three variables integration.

Topic 4. Line and surface integral.

Line integral. Surface integral. Fundamental theorems of vector calculus.

Topic 5. Partial differential equations.

Basic concepts. Fourier series. Classic partial differential equations.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

45 hours of regular classes in classroom,

15 hours of  classes in computer classroom under the supervision of professor.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

S1) Class attendance and participation in the activities and on-line activities of the course (10%)

Professor will weight student participation in the resolution of the various activities that arise as well as attendance at tutorials. The maximum score in this section is 1 point.

The score obtained for item S1 will be kept for all the official examination calls along the course.

S2) theoretical/practical exam (80%)

The exam will consist of short exercises and / or long problems and it will be rated up to 8 points. To pass the course is necessary to obtain a score equal to or greater than 4 points.

S3) Presentation of additional works and/or exercises (10%)

Students must perform practical assignments.

The professor will assign up to 1 point for the presentation of proposed works and/or exercises.
