3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

The Master´s Thesis involve the preparation of a report or written paper, under the supervision of a tutor, in which students reveal the knowledge and skills acquired in the course of their studies. It may address any theme of the subjects included in the module of Olive grove and Olive Oil or in each of the areas of expertise. In the specializing in Olive growing the master´s thesis shall address one of the following areas: design of an olive grove plantation, the irrigation systems, organic cultivation, the economic analysis of the sector of the olive grove and the olive oil, the use and valorization of by-products, etc. In the specializing of Olive oil extraction the master´s thesis shall address one of the following areas: of olive-oil mill industries, oil extracting plant, refinery, table olive industry, or a laboratory of analysis of oils technical design projects; the economic analysis of the sector of the olive grove and the olive oil or nutritional studies of the olive oil, etc. In addition the master´s thesis could involve experimental works concerning the research areas that the tutors offer every academic course.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The subject of the master´s thesis is to be determined by agreement between the student and his or her tutor. The total dedication is 300 h: 296 h student´s work and 4 h of tutoring.

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

In the final stage, students must submit their Master´s Thesis. Prior to its public defense, the tutor must forward a report on the final project to the Master coordinator. Students must defend their Master´s Thesis against a three evaluating committee members during 15 minutes. After that the evaluating committee will ask the student during 15 minutes. In the evaluation of the work, the tribunal will consider the following aspects: formal aspect, exposition, results, discussion of results, innovation grade, the originality, and the transfer grade to the managerial or research world, as well as the report of the Tutor.
