4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

This course follows a student-centered approach. The teachers will thus be facilitators of the teaching-learning process.

It will comprise a combination of lockstep lectures with active methodologies which apply theoretical knowledge to practice. The former will be employed to establish a theoretical backdrop, suggest possible practical implications and applications, and to answer student queries. The latter, in turn, will involve debates, watching and critically discussing videos, cooperative teamwork, elaboration of posters and a wiki, oral presentations, or critical reading of texts. These activities will thus exploit from a practical perspective what has been covered from a theoretical standpoint.

The students will be expected to participate actively in the group activities, in the set readings, and in the oral presentations.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Ongoing assessment will be attached great weight in this subject. 20% of the final grade will correspond to attendance and participation, 40% to projects and presentations, and 40% to the final exam.
