4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

- Training activity: Lectures (3.0 ECTS): Presentation by the faculty of the contents of the teaching units of the course promoting discussion and active participation of students. It will use new technologies to promote student access to the virtual platform where educational materials are available (as summaries of the lectures). This activity will provide the skills related to competencies 1, 2 and 4.

- Training activity: Laboratory Practices (2.7 ECTS). Work will proceed in small groups in the Microbiology laboratory practices. The teacher will explain the fundamentals and procedure of each practice. Students, with the support of a laboratory portfolio with the main experimental procedures, will achieve results that will have to be analyzed and discussed. This activity will develop the skills competence number 3, the development of job skills in a laboratory of Microbiology and interpretation of the results of microbiological analysis. - Training activity: Group tutorials (0.3 ECTS) There will be specialized tutorials in order to guide students in monitoring tutored. This will also facilitate the acquisition of teamwork skills, knowledge and ability to consult specialized literature sources, and synthesize them.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

It will be used a system of assessment where the final result is given by the sum of the scores obtained in the previous sections. It is mandatory to have attended the laboratory exercises. The writen term paper will evaluate the competences CB3, CB4, CB5 y CE2. The oral presentation will allow us to evaluate the competences CB3, CB4 y CE2. Finally, competences CB5 y CT24 will be assesed through continuous evaluation, mainly during the laboratory exercises.
