4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures in large group. Fundamentally they will be taught using the participatory master class, encouraging student involvement in class. Special attention to the development of the skills listed above will be provided. Practical classes. Students will apply under the supervision of the teacher, developed methodologies and techniques described previously in class. Basically they consist of: - To know the characteristics of the main types sedimentary rocks and fossils that outcrop at the surface of the Earth. Manage the identification criteria for recognise them in hand specimen. - Geological Mapping. Know and use the techniques of interpretation of geological maps. - Practice Field. Knowing and applying the recognition techniques of rocks and minerals, geological structures and basic principles of geological mapping in the fieldwork. Supervised work group The subject and guides for tutored work will be explained by the teacher in different classroom sessions and tutorials. The teacher also aim in the process of carrying out the work indicating the procedure for processing. The teaching materials will be available through the platform of virtual teaching of the subject

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The theoretical exam will consist of a series of short questions that will focus on the subject taught and discussed in the lectures. Since the beginning of the course students will have a theme that should prepare reading and assimilating the contents of the scientific work and dissemination to be posted on the platform. The groups formed at the beginning of the course must make a PowerPoint presentation or similar programs on the subject to be assigned and sent before the date to be announced. Selected presentations will be presented by the relevant groups in a tutoring session. Each student will receive a grade based on the quality of the presentation. The practical classes laboratory and field will also carry associate the realization of a practical examination consisting of the recognition of rocks and fossils and resolution of a simple geological map. To qualify for the notes of different activities offset between them will have to reach a minimum qualification in the respective test that can never be less than 40% of the total.

With the S2 Evaluation System (Theoretical concepts of matter) the CB1 skills, CT1, CE1, CE2, CE4, CE32, CE33, CE48 and Learning Outcomes 411005A, 411005B, 411005C be evaluated.

With S3 Evaluation System (Performing tasks, cases or exercises) the CT2, CT24 and CB5 competencies will be evaluated.

With the S4 Evaluation System (Laboratory Practice) the EC4 skills, CT2, CT24 and CB5 and learning outcomes will be evaluated and 411005E 411005D
