Unit 5.- Sulfur, Selenium, Tellurium and Polonium. Molecular forms. Hydrides. Halides. Oxides. Oxoacids and salts.

Unit 6.- Nitrogen. Molecular forms. Hydrides. Halides. Oxides. Oxoacids and salts.

Unit 14.- General properties of the f-block elements. Lanthanoid chemistry. Actinoid chemistry.

ACADEMICS ACTIVITIES (SEMINARS):

Molecular symmetry and group theory.

Application of the Molecular Orbital Theory to simple diatomic and polyatomic molecules.

Electrode potentials applications. Latimer diagrams. Frost diagrams.

Questions and exercises related to the contents of units 1 to 14 of the subject.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lecture (Theory): 38 hours. Oral exposition of the theoretical contents by the lecturer, using audiovisual methods

Seminars: 20 hours. Resolution of issues and problems related to the theoretical contents of the subject. The student participation will be encouraged.

Academic Tutorials: 2 hours. Correction of questionnaires related to the theoretical content previously made by the students, sharing of results, discussion and clarification of doubts.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Written exam on the contents of the course (70%)

Continuous evaluation of the seminars (30%)

This is a full evaluation of the reached competences (B9, C9, C10, Q1, Q2, B6) from both theoretical and applied points of view.

In the extraordinary calls, the students will have the option to be evaluated in base of a theoretical and practical examination (100%) or in base to the two aspects evaluated in the ordinary call (70 % and 30 %).
