3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

This is an Analytical Chemistry laboratory course,  with a series of practical works involving those instrumental analytical techniques which are fundamental to Chemistry Grade students.

 

Contents:

 

The students will perform the following practices:

1.        Spectrophotometric determination of phosphorus in soil samples

2.      Determination of an iron and aluminum mixture by using selective extraction with oxine .

3.      Spectrophotometric determination of polyphenols in foods.

4.      Determination of sodium and potassium in wine, milk and serum by flame atomic emission.

5.      Determination of chromium in steels by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy: validation of an analytical method.

6.      Potentiometric determination of fluoride in drinking water, mouthwash and toothpaste by using ion selective electrodes

7.      Conductimetric determinación of  vinegar acidity

8.      Determination of phenols in water by means of liquid chromatography and solid phase extraction.

9.  Determination of a pharmaceutical mixture by HPLC.

10.  Determination of organochlorine pesticides by means of Gas Chromatography.

11.    Characterizing physical parameters of a flow injection system. Determination of t hiocyanate.

12.  Determination of metals in waters by ICP-MS.
