3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Chapter 1: Introduction to Linguistics.

Chapter 2: Language and languages.

Chapter 3: Disciplines of the code (1): Phonetics and Phonology.

Chapter 4: Disciplines of the code (2): Morphology, Syntax, Grammar and Semantics. 

Chapter 5: The study of language in use: Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis.

Chapter 6: Psicholinguistics.

Chapter 7: Sociolinguistics.

Chapter 8: Languages of the world. Universals and Linguistic tipology.

Chapter 9: The linguistic change.

 

 

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The methodology for this subjetc will be bases on:

  1. the students' work
  2. lectures and theoretical classes
  3. seminars and tutorials

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The evaluation of the students' theoretical Knowlwdge and practical training will be based on three criteria:

  • 10% of the total mark will be obtained on the basis of their regular attendance at and active participation in classroom (oral contributions and exercises.)
  • 60% comes from the quality of the final exam taken by the students at the end of the four-month period.
  • 30% correspond to the submission of assignments.
