1. Technologies and design of apps

  • Theory:
    • Hardware/software technologies for mobile devices
    • Design and usability analysis of apps
    • Introduction to Android platform
  • Laboratory:
    • Design and prototyping of apps
    • Android SDK installation. Configuration of Android projects
    • Implementation of a basic app

2. Development of apps: basic concepts

  • Theory:
    • User interface
    • Data stores
    • Networking
  • Laboratory:
    • Incremental Development of an Android project (user interface, data store and networking)

3. Development of apps: advanced concepts

  • Theory:
    • Location and sensors
    • Multimedia
    • Services and notifications
    • Web technologies for mobile apps
  • Laboratory:
    • Incremental Development of an Android project (location, sensors, multimedia, services and notifications)
    • PhoneGap framework

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Theory: presentation of theoretical concepts.

Exercise: Troubleshooting by students and discussion.

Laboratory: practical implementation of the techniques studied in the theory classes. Incremental development of an Android project.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

- Theory (30%). Multiple-choice test about theoretical concepts of the subject.

- Laboratory (60%): Continuous assessment of practices (15%) and the incremental Android project (45%). Final exposition of the Android project.

- Participation (10%): Class attendance and presentation of exercises in the classroom.

In final examinations only the theory exam (30%) will take place. The final rate in these examination sessions will be calculated with the laboratory (60%) and participation (10%) rates achieved during the semester.
