3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Theory

Unit I. Sensor Networks.

Lesson 1. Introduction to electronic systems.
Lesson 2. Analogic and digital sensors.
Lesson 3. Communication protocols.
Lesson 4. Web services in embedded devices.
Lesson 5. Information s torage .

Unit II. Neocartography.

Lesson 6. Neocartography: Concept and types.
Lesson 7. OGC services. Map servers.
Lesson 8. Virtual globes and maps .
Lesson 9. Collaborative Cartography. Volunteered Geographical Information (VGI) .
Lesson 10. Data capture for neocartography.

Practices:

1. Temperature and humidity sensors. Motion sensors. Positioning and data storage.
2. Capture data by means environmental sensors. Transmission and storage of data on servers.
3. Virtual Maps. Development of a web map (thin client). Using basic tools of XHTML. Mashups. Symbolizing by SLD.
4. Incorporation of sensor data and other cartographic sources.

       

       

     

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The lectures will include keynote presentations of theoretical concepts of the subject and examples,as well as conferences on issues of interest.

Practical classes include practical problems supported by ICT tools in the computer classroom.

However, the lecturesand practices lessons will becarried outin an integrated way.

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

To pass the subject will be necessary to pass the theoretical examination and practical work of the subject independently.

The final score of the subject will be calculated taking into account the weighting of each of the parts (theory and practices).

Evaluation of competences and learning results:

Theory-practice exam (S2). Competences: CB17, CB18, CE5, CE13, CG1, CG4, CT1, CT3, CT5, CT6, CT8. Results: 9, 10, 11.

Accomplishment of the practices (S3). Competences: CB11, CB17, CB18, CE5, CE8, CG1, CG4, CT1, CT2, CT3, CT5, CT6, CT8. Results: 10, 11.
