3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Theory:

Lesson 1. Introduction to Geomatics. Geomatics techniques: information capture, data processing and modeling, geospatial services and applications. Reference systems. Global positioning and navigation satellite systems (GNSS).

Lesson 2. Techniques for image capture and processing. Remote sensing. Digital image analysis. Terrestrial and airborne photogrammetry. Unmanned aerial systems (UAVs).

Lesson 3. Techniques for point clouds capture and processing. Terrestrial and aerial LiDAR systems to capture point clouds. Integration of point clouds and images.

Lesson 4. Geographical Information Systems. Vector and raster data models. Digital Terrain Models. Data integration. Spatial Data Infrastructures. OGC services. Map servers.

Lesson 5. Geoenvironmental mapping. GIS analysis studies of the physical environment. Mapping. Analogic and digital products. Environmental maps. Risk maps.

Practices:

Practice 1. Digital processing and analysis of satellite images.

Practice 2. Image capture and processing using a UAV system (it includes a fieldwork day).

Practice 3. Data collection, GIS analysis and development of geo-environmental mapping (it includes a fieldwork day).

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The theory classes include keynote presentations of theoretical concepts of the subject and examples, and if it is possible, conferences on issues of interest.

The practice classes include practical problems to resolve with the support of ICT tools in the computer classroom. In addition, two fieldwork days will be held for collecting data and making observations that are then used in the other practices.

Nevertheless, the lectures and problems will be carried out in an integrated way.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

To pass the course it will be necessary to pass the theoretical exam examination and practical work of the subject independently.

The final score of the subject will be calculated taking into account the weighting of each of the parts (theory, practice and assistance).

Evaluation of competences and learning results:

Theory exam (S2). Competences: CB10, CB11, CG2, CG19, CT3, CE5, CE17, CE20. Results: 1, 2.

Accomplishment of practices (S3). Competences: CB11, CG2, CG12, CG14, CG19, CT1, CT3, CE5, CE7, CE17, CE20. Results: 1, 2, 3.

Attendance and participation (S1). Competences: CB11, CT3, CG14, CG19. Results: 1, 2.
