4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures will be devoted to the analysis of the social and historical background of the chosen authors and works.We will use the subject's handbook and the teacher's presentations of the lectures, which will be uploaded to the web.

Practical sessions will focus on the reading and analysis of the selected works, which belong to different periods of English and American literature. Those texts and a reading guide will be available in the "plataforma de docencia virtual". Students must read and study them before the practical sessions. They should also be prepared to discuss them with the teacher and other classmates.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The exam will evaluate students' knowledge about the following issues:

-English and American literary history since the beginnings till the contemporary age.

-Identification of the most relevant works and authors

-Analysis of a selection of texts

A short essay will be written in class.

Students must pass the written exam so that the teacher can include their attendance mark and their short essay mark as part of their final assessment.
