3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

SECTION I: LEARNING BY MUSIC.

Topic 1. Musical beings in a sonorous world.

Topic 2. Music and Education.

Topic 3. Music and Curriculum.

SECTION II: THE LANGUAGE OF MUSIC (Transversal)

Topic 4: Organization of the sonorous material: elements of musical language.

Rhythm, melody, harmony, texture, timbre and form. Discrimination, interpretation and teaching.

Topic 5: Introduction to musical language: from the unconventional to the conventional codes. Procedures for reading and writing of music. Resources and materials.

SECTION III: THE TEACHING OF MUSIC: METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES

Topic 6: Listenig

The hearing in the classroom. Soundscapes and musical sounds. Main styles and musical contexts. Hearing to the score. Resources and materials.

Item 7: Interpretation and creation

Te body. The body as an instrument. Body language, music and dance. The voice. Spoken voice, recited and sung. Classification of voices. Instruments (sound objects and “cotidiáfonos”, school instruments, traditional and cults main groupings). Resources and procedures for composition and musical creation in the classroom. Improvisation.

Topic 8: Active methods in Ed Musical.

Dalcroze, Orff, Kodály, Willems, Martenot, Suzuki, Schafer.

SECTION IV: INTEGRATED MUSIC

Item 9: The Musical Education in the context of promoting creative culture and leisure throughout life. Integrated art projects (introduction to the subject of 2nd year Visual arts and media culture in Primary Education).

 

 

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The methodology will combine lectures and demonstration techniques with the experience and practice of music. At all times it will be favored the development of active, participatory, overall creativity and interdisciplinary learning. Individual and group work, led by teachers, will be result of the discovery and application of research techniques of curiosity and preconceptions of students enriched collaborative work embodied in education - musical projects. Furthermore, it will implement active methods of music education (Orff, Willmes, Kodaly, Schafer, Dalcroze, etc.)

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

D ifferent evaluation techniques were combined to assess the degree of acquisition of objectives and skills development title.

  1. Written test: in this test the concept and application of theory to practice level will be assessed. It will consist of essay questions, short answer, definitions, practical cases, links with curriculum, prosodies, comments, listening, discrimination elements of musical language, etc.
  1. Practical test: individually performed to check the level of musical language (perception, reading and writing of the music). It consist of an oral test from interpreting songs from the repertoire for Primary School and small fragments at first sight, dictations, etc., and, if necessary, written assumptions.
  1. Correction of individual and group work (exhibitions, bug reports, etc.) and monitor them in tutorials.
  1. Participant observation. Record attendance, class participation, presentation of voluntary activities, monitoring delivery of activities, etc.

To pass the course will need to approve paragraphs 1 and 2. In general, in general , the use of oral and written Spanish will be valued foreign students.
