 Unit  II: BREATHING AND OXIGENATION

T 5. Nursing interventions related to vascular access and blood samples collection.

T  6. Blood and immunological diseases.

T 7. Cardiovascular diseases.

T  8  Impaired cardiovascular responses: assessment and diagnosis..

T  9. Nursing interventions related to cardiovascular problems.

T 10. Pulmonary and respiratory diseases.

T 11. Impaired respiratory responses: assessment and diagnosis.

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS (in small groups)

 1. Surgical assistance and instrumentation. Surgical washing.

2. Vascular access: phlebotomy. Peripheral venous catheterization

3. Arterial junction and arterial blood analysis.

4. Electrocardiography

5. Central catheter care. Measurement of the Central Venous Pressure.

6. Cardio- pulmonary assessment: auscultation.

7. Basic respiratory care. Oxygen administration.

8. Respiratory interventions: suctioning. Thoracic drainage management.

9. Gastric intubation

10. Seminar or workshop: clinical cases I

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

METHODOLOGY AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES

 

-       Lectures en the main group. Topics exposition and discussion.

-       Small groups learning: participative seminars and workshops for practice learning

-       Students’ individual and in groups work. Assignments guided and supported by the e-learning web of the UJA.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

  • Attendance and participation in activities in the classroom. 10%
  • Written exam on knowledge acquisition. 50 %
  • Attendance and active participation in seminars and workshops: 20 % (Compulsory the attendance to 90% of these practice seminars. In other case, student should have a specific practice test)
  • Individual o groups assignments. 20%

The scores for this course will be according to Spanish Law RD 1125/2003.
