Topic 1: Computer structure. Operating system
Topic 2: Basic programming structures. Functions
Topic 3. The file system. File management.
Topic 4: Recursion
Topic 5: Data structures. Strings of characters, structures and graphs
Topic 6: Data visualization
Topic 7: Computational complexity
Topic 8: Exception handling
Topic 9: Programming paradigms
The subject consists of two parts: theory and labs.
Lectures will be used to explain theory concepts.
In the labs we will use the computer to improve programming skills.
To assess programming skills the student will have to resolve some practical cases in the labs and at home.
Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support
The student will have an ongoing assessment. The final mark will be obtained as follows:
Class attendance in labs (1 point)
Programming assigments (4 points)
Lab Exams (5 points)
If the student fails the ongoing assessment (get less than 5 points) or he is not satisfied with his final mark then the student can make a final exam. The final exam will be done in the labs and will assess the programming skills.
