3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Rules and statutory regulations. Graphic representation of the electric facilities.  Planning and design of electrical distribution systems in buildings: structural design; planning fundamentals; design of building network; stand-by supply. Power loading of an installation: installed power; estimation of actual maximum kVA demand; diversity factor. Low-voltage switchboards and distribution systems. Method for determining the cross-sectional area of circuit conductors. Calculating short-circuit current in three-phase systems: calculation variables to IEC 60909. Electrical installation equipment: fuses; circuit breaker; residual-current protective devices. Overcurrent protection: overload protection; short-circuit protection. Selectivity: selectivity criteria; selectivity in low-voltage systems. Grounding systems: basic requirements to grounding in electrical installations; determining the permissible ground resistance; dimensioning grounding electrode conductors; requirements for grounding electrode components; measurements and tests on grounding systems. Protection against electric shock: protection against direct contact; LV distribution schemes; earthing schemes; protection against indirect contact; implementation of the TT, TN and IT system.

Written exam (65%) combined with a practice work (35%) and course attendance (10%)
