3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

  1. Introduction to electronic prototyping.
    • Evolution of manufacturing technologies.
    • Design cycle of the electronic components.
    • Design for testability and manufacturing. Standards and certifications.
  2. Component technologies.
    • Electronic components. Technologies, identification and encapsulated.
    • Printed circuit boards. Technologies and types.
    • Auxiliary components.
  3. PCB design.
    • Basic specifications. Design considerations.
    • Thermal effects. Electromagnetic interference. Reflections of signals. Decoupling techniques.
    • Design rules and standards. Features tracks. Location of components.
    • CAD tools. Web design assistants.
  4. PCBs manufacturing technologies.
    • Tracks tracing techniques. Mechanization of PCBs.
    • Welding THD and SMD circuit. ESD protection.
    • Manufacturing systems and PCB test.
    • RoHS and WEEE Directives.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

  • The lectures will be developed in the classroom, with examples and exercises when appropriate.
  • Slides, video projectos, etc. will be used in the lectures
  • The objetive is that students acquire the neccesary knowledge and to reach the target skills.

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Requirements to pass the course:

  • Mandatory attendance at lectures (except where justified).
  • Realization of practical work.

It will take into account the quality of the practices and its presentation (if any). Also assess the involvement of students in the course.
