3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Transportation and deposition of sediments. Sedimentary rocks: textures. Types of sedimentary rocks: terrigenous sedimentary rocks, chemical/biochemical, organic sedimentary rocks, others. Sedimentary depositional structures. Sedimentary facies. Environmental analysis: terrestrial environments, marine environments, transitional environment. Stratigraphic units. Unconformities. Basin analysis

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures (theory): 2 hours per week

Laboratory and practical problems: 2 hours per week

Stratigraphic and sedimentological field trip: 1 day

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Exam paper (60% of the total score: 30% theory and 30% practice) combined with evaluation of the seminars-presentations (30 %) and written report of field activities (10%)
