3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Unit 1: Introduction to nutrition and food sciences

Unit 2: Nutrients. Carbohidrates. Fats and oils. Proteins. Vitamines and minerals.

Unit 3: Groups of food. New foods. Food quality and safety. Health claims.

Unit 4: Food compositions and nutritive value. Nutrient needs and dietary guidelines. Assessment of nutritional status.

Unit 5: Nutrition and Health. Nutrition and the Prevention of Chronic Diseases. Hypertension. Diabetes. Obesity. Metabolic Sindrome

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lecture (Theory): Lecture in Spahish languaje,   and support in English

 

36 Hours per course

Lecture (Practice): Practice in Spanish lenguaje,   and support in English

 

24 Hours per course

Homework:    In English for foreing students

 

90 Hours per week

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Attendance to laboratory
classes is mandatory .Theory will be evaluated with a written exam.
