Introduction to Prehistoric Art. Study of the artistic manifestations of the first historical civilizations, with special attention to the Egyptian Empire. Study of Greek art from their predecessors pre-Hellenic until the end of the Classicism, such as base and model for the artistic creation of Occident.

 

I. The ancient art: concept, methods and sources of study.

3. The European Art in the Age of Metals.

 

III. Egypt

4 Architecture and religion in the Egyptian culture.

5. Figurative Arts and Sumptuary arts in Egypt.

7. Plastic arts in Mesopotamia.

 

V. The Aegean Cultures. From the Dark Ages to the Orientalizant period.

VI. The Archaic Greece.

11. Origin and evolution of Greek architecture.

12. Sculpture of the archaic period to the severe style.

It is advisable to attend classes: the final examination consist in the commentary of masterpieces seen in class.
