3. CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Concepts, methods and sources of the discipline.

The Egyptian religion.

Conceptual issues that support the monarchy in Ancient Egypt.

The religion in Mesopotamia.

The evolution of the vision of the ruler in Mesopotamia.

Common religious elements of the Indoeuropean peoples, The Hitite religion. The Mazdeism.

Common religious elements of the peoples in the Levant. The religion of Israel. The Phoenician religion.

The Olimpic Greek religion.

Mysteric cults in Ancient Greece.

The Roman religion.

Evolution of the politic thought in Rome.

The appearance of the oriental cults in the Empire: the mithraism and christianism.

Religion and thought in the Late Antiquity.

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Each theme will be followed by a practice activity, that, in the case of the present subject, will focus on the analysis of ancient texts related to the theoretical theme studied before.

The colective tutorship will organised at the end of each week, after self repassing the theoretical and practical contents by the student, once he/she has askes his/her questions and have expressed his/her reflexions before the lecturer and fellows.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

The student marks will be the result of a theoretical-practical exam, shich will be up to the 70% of the mark and will be completed with the notes of the teacher (10%) and a personal essay, which will be evaluated according to its quality of references, its originality and structure.
