These four chapters will be accompanied by a choice of text which will abound in the above topics:
1. The Battle of Maldon y El Cantar del Mío Cid 
2.  "The Reeve's Tale" y "Enxiemplo de don Pitas Payas" ( Libro del buen amor)
3. The Petrarchist tradition in England and Spain: sonnets by Thomas Wyatt, Henry Howard, Sir Philip Sidney, Edmund Spenser, William Shakespeare compared widh sonnets by Garcilaso, Boscán, Lope de Vega, Góngora and Quevedo.
4. The dramatic development in England ane in Spain: A Woman killed with Kindness  byThomas Heywood compared with El castigo sin venganza by Lope de Vega.
5. Metaphysical, cavalier and Olímpian English poets against Spanish Baroque and classicist poets: poems by several English and Spanihs authors of the period.
6. Don Quixote in England: Don Quijote and Tom Jones (Henry Fielding)

4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Studentes will have at their disposal in the Virtual Platform the corresponding topics written by the lecturer. These topics will be proposed as topic of discussion in class. Classes will revolve around these classnotes in order to clarify concepts, give examples and comment texts.

The lecturers will propose a set of choice readings both English and Spanish as well as the corresponding bibliographical sources for the activities of analysis and text commentary.

Students with special educational needs should contact the Student Attention Service (Servicio de Atención y Ayudas al Estudiante) in order to receive the appropriate academic support

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

Assessment will include active participation in class and attendance, both of which will constitute 10 % of the final grade. The lecturers will base this portion of the assessment on the following aspects and control mechanisms:
- Regular attendance
- Active participation in the classroom
- Participation in activities
- Attendance list

The mastery of theoretical and practical concepts will be based on a written exam, which will amount to the 65 % of the final grade.

The remaining 25 % will be based on a written paper. The following aspects will be assessed: paper discursive structure, delivery before deadline, quality of the written expression in English, contente quality, originality and formal quality of the paper. Plagiarism will lead to the loss of the grade as far as this section.
