4. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The methodology of the subject is articulated around theoretical lectures and practical sessions through which students will get to know the different historical, cultural and social facts that have influenced the composition of the corpus of literary works selected. Students will also deepen into de analysis of these literary works by paying special attention to ideology and stylistics. The active participation and involvement in the lessons and the debate will be essential both in the theoretical and practical sessions.

5. ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY

1. Participation and active involvement of the students in both the theoretical and practical sessions (10% of the final mark). 2. Exam, comprising questions about the main authors and literary trends of the period and evaluating the students' capability to critically analyze literary texts (30%). 3. Essay-like commentary on a book chosen by the student (60%).
